OnePlus has officially announced the OnePlus 15 at the recently concluded Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii. At the event, the China-based smartphone maker also confirmed that the OnePlus 15 will be the first phone to pack in Qualcomm’s newest flagship chipset – the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

While not much is known about the upcoming device, OnePlus has stated that it will be the first phone to feature the company’s in-house developed DetailMax image engine, which utilises “advanced algorithms and powerful processors to capture images that feel breathtakingly clear and truly real.”

Also, OnePlus seems to be ditching the iconic circular island and is instead going with a new back panel with a vertically aligned camera island that houses three lenses. As you can see in the image, the OnePlus 15 looks similar to the company’s newest compact Android phone – the OnePlus 13s, with the familiar OnePlus logo slapped in the middle.

During the summit, OnePlus also confirmed that the upcoming device will have a display with a 165Hz refresh rate, but it is unclear if this will be the case for the global variant. The phone is expected to come with OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16 out of the box and may get 5 years of OS updates and 6 years of security patches.

Rumour also has it that it will have a huge 7,300mAh Silicon-Carbon battery with 50W wireless and 100W wired charging support. Speculations suggest that the upcoming phone will have a 50MP primary shooter in addition to a 50MP ultrawide lens and 50MP telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom. And while the company did not say anything about the launch date, the OnePlus 15 is expected to make its debut in China, which will be followed by a global release.

At the Snapdragon Summit, smartphone manufacturers like iQOO, Vivo, Xiaomi and others also confirmed that they will soon be launching new phones powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
