You might think you know your Samsung Galaxy phone inside and out, but what if there were a few simple, yet incredibly powerful, adjustments that could change everything?
I have spent countless hours navigating my Galaxy, and along the way, I picked up several expert-level tips that have fundamentally shifted how I use my phone.
These tricks make everything from multitasking to finding information a breeze. Let’s upgrade your Galaxy game without needing a tech degree.
Let me tell you about one of my absolute favorite Samsung Camera tricks – the camera widget. It’s such a simple feature, but it has changed how quickly I can capture those fleeting moments.
Here’s how I use it. Instead of opening the camera app, then swiping through modes to find what I need, I placed my most-used camera modes on my home screen with dedicated widgets.
For instance, I’m a huge foodie, and Samsung Food Mode is excellent for making those dinner pictures look appetizing. So, I created a camera widget specifically for Food Mode and placed it on the home screen.
Now, when that delicious dish arrives, I don’t waste a second. One tap on that widget, and I’m instantly in Food Mode, ready to snap that perfect Instagram-ready picture in no time at all.
And it’s not just for food. As a parent, I know how quickly kids move, and sometimes, you need to capture those actions. That’s why I dedicated another camera widget to Super Slow-Mo mode.
My little one is constantly running, jumping, and doing the silliest things. A single tap on its dedicated icon, and I’m instantly recording in super slow motion and capturing every detail of their playful antics.
You can go to the Widget menu, select Camera, and place one of the widgets on the home screen. Now, tap it and select a relevant wallpaper and camera mode, and you are good to go.

Discover and create a routine for daily tasks
Let’s go over another One UI feature that changed my daily efficiency.
I often do the same series of actions on my phone multiple times a day, or forget little things. Here is where Routines became my secret weapon for automating these patterns.
Instead of manually tapping through settings, apps, or smart home controls, you can tell your phone: When A happens, do X, Y, and Z. This frees up mental space and ensures I never forget those small, yet important, steps.
For example, my favorite routine is ‘Wind Down.’ Every night, around 10:30 PM, I know it’s time to start preparing for bed.
I set up a Wind Down routine that triggers automatically at 10.30 PM. The moment the clock hits that time, my phone does the following automatically:
Dims the screen significantly
Activate the Eye Comfort Shield
Changes my sound mode to vibrate
Turns on DND
It’s seamless. I don’t have to think about it. My phone just does it. It’s one of the routines. Check out my post below to learn about all the routines I use.

Using the task changer layout type
I changed the task switcher layout using Samsung’s Good Lock app. If you are not familiar with Good Lock, think of it as Samsung’s official suite of customization tools that lets you tweak your phone in every possible way.
I found the default task switcher layout a bit cumbersome. While it looks nice, I could only see an app or two at a time.
Now, I hardly clear apps from the recent menu, so I mostly have a high number of apps open in the background.
That’s where Good Lock, specifically its Home Up module, comes into play. One of the options within Home Up allows you to transform the task switcher. I immediately switched to the ‘Slim list’ layout.
This view arranges my open applications in a much more compact, scrollable list. I can now see many more apps on the screen at once and jump directly to the one I need with a single tap.
This trick has saved me from unexpected data bill shocks and ensured I always have enough internet for my phone. I usually set up a data limit for my mobile hotspot.
I often use my Samsung Galaxy’s internet connection for my MacBook Pro, especially when I’m working remotely or on the go. Before I discovered this trick, I would sometimes forget how much data I was burning through on my laptop.
Now, when I turn on my mobile hotspot, I set a specific limit. For my personal use with my MacBook, I typically set it to 2GB. It’s enough to get work done, check emails, and attend a quick video call.
After reaching 2GB, my phone automatically cuts off the hotspot connection.
I do the same trick when sharing my internet connection with others. I can set a limit from Settings > Connections > Mobile Hotspot and Tethering > Hotspot menu and set a limit of 500MB for them.
It gives them enough to do what they need without my entire data plan disappearing.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy

The Galaxy S23+ is built to provide a top-notch Android experience in 2023 for those who like to live just a little larger. The 6.6″ AMOLED display runs smooth, the 45W wired charging should allow for longer days with shorter breaks plugged in, and there’s also more room to run around with, thanks to the 256GB and 512GB options. Backed by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, it’s about as much phone as you can get right on that $1,000 mark.

Setting up Edge lighting style
This trick is all about making sure I never miss an important notification, even when my Galaxy S23 Ultra is just chilling on my desk. That’s when Edge Lighting comes in, and I have customized it to perfection.
I can go to Settings > Notifications > Notification pop-up style > Edge lighting style and pick the relevant effect and color for my incoming alerts.
This feature is genius, especially with the S23 Ultra’s design. Since the screen curves slightly and the sides are still visible, when a notification comes in, that specific light effect illuminates the edges of the screen.
I don’t even need to pick up my phone or turn on the screen to know something has come in.

Activate notification snoozing
We all get notifications at the most inconvenient times. You are in a meeting, driving, or deep in a task, and your phone buzzes with an email or a message that you need to address, but not right this second.
If I dismiss it, I will probably forget about it. If I act on it, I will lose my focus.
This is where snoozing comes in. When a notification pops up, I expand the notification, tap the clock icon, and snooze it for a specific timeframe.
For example, when I’m in the middle of writing an important report, an email comes in about a project update that isn’t urgent but needs my attention before the end of the day. I can snooze it for two hours and get an alert when I’m ready to tackle it.
If the option doesn’t show up on your phone, go to Settings > Notifications > Advanced settings and turn on Show snooze button.
Upgrade your Galaxy
These Galaxy tricks have truly changed how I interact with my phone every single day. It’s incredible how a few smart adjustments, often overlooked, can make a significant difference in how intuitive and powerful your device feels.
What are you waiting for? Give them a shot and unlock the full potential that’s been waiting right in your pocket.
