With the June Feature Drop, Google rolled out several new features for the Pixel Watch lineup, including adding support for public transit payments and the ability to mark certain home controls as favorites for quick access. However, the company skipped pushing the firmware for Pixel Watch units in Japan and Singapore, saying “they will receive an update in the coming weeks.” Over a month later, the company is now pushing the July 2025 update to these units.

A repairable design!

In addition to the improvements introduced in the June 2025 update, the BW1A.250605.004.J2 build for the Pixel Watch in Japan and Singapore contains an important fix related to emergency calling, as highlighted by Google in its announcement:

The June 2025 build tweaks how contactless Google Wallet payments work on the Pixel Watch, requiring users to unlock the watch before making a transaction.

Google says the update is rolling out beginning today and will continue “over the next couple of weeks.”

Pixel Watch’s next big update will land in September

Google switched to a quarterly update cycle for the Pixel Watch lineup with the Wear OS 5.1 and Android 15 firmware this March. It did roll out an update in April, fixing bugs from the initial Wear OS 5.1 build. This was followed by the June 2025 Feature Drop.

The next major update for the Pixel Watch should land in September. Presumably, it will bring Wear OS 6 to Google’s existing smartwatches and more Material 3 Expressive design changes. Google has already pushed out Gemini and the M3E-revamp of the Wear OS Phone app to the Pixel Watch.
