Google has announced the launch date of the next-gen Pixel 10 in India and based on what we have seen so far, there’s a lot to look forward to. The official ‘Made by Google’ launch event on August 20 is expected to reveal four new models under the Pixel 10 series banner, alongside the Pixel Watch 4 and new Pixel Buds.

The four new models include a vanilla Pixel 10, a more beefed up Pixel 10 Pro, a larger version of the Pro called Pixel 10 Pro XL and the ultimate foldable flagship – Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Rumours have pointed to a brand new 3nm Tensor G5 chipset being the highlight of this year’s launch, bringing considerable improvements to raw and AI performance. The cameras will also get an upgrade.

Hence, if you are excited to learn about these new Pixel 10 series devices, here is all you need to know.

Pixel 10 series design

Leaks suggest that the Pixel 10 series will largely retain the design language established by the Pixel 9 lineup. Hence, you can expect the signature horizontal camera bar on the rear to remain, along with premium build materials such as sturdy aluminum fram and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for display protection. An IP68 water resistance rating is expected across all models, ensuring top-notch durability.

While the overall form factor remains consistent—featuring flat displays (possibly with gently curved edges on Pro models) and glass backs—subtle refinements are anticipated. Rumours hint at a potential shift to a faster ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.

Colour options are also reportedly diverse this year, with the standard Pixel 10 possibly coming in Obsidian, Indigo, Lemongrass, and Frost, while Pro models might offer Obsidian, Jade, Moonstone, and Porcelain colourways.

Pixel 10 series performance

The star of the show is expected to be Google’s next-generation in-house Tensor G5 chip. This new processor is rumoured to be manufactured by TSMC on a 3nm process, marking a departure from Samsung as the primary chip maker for Google’s Tensor line. The TSMC 3nm process is expected to improve efficiency, thermal management, and raw processing power, with some leaks suggesting a 25 per cent overall performance boost over its predecessor.

The standard Pixel 10 is anticipated to feature 12GB of RAM, while the Pro and Pro XL variants could push up to 16GB of RAM. Storage options are expected to range from 128GB up to a generous 1TB, particularly for the Pro models.

Camera:

Cameras are always a focal point for Pixel phones (get it? The pun?).

The Pixel 10 series is no exception. The most significant rumored upgrade is the inclusion of a telephoto lens on the base Pixel 10 for the first time, a feature previously reserved for Pro models. This could significantly enhance the versatility of the standard Pixel.

However, to accommodate the new telephoto lens, leaks suggest the base Pixel 10’s main and ultrawide camera sensors might see a slight downgrade, possibly adopting components from the Pixel 9a. In contrast, the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL are expected to maintain a similar camera setup to their predecessors, likely featuring a 50MP primary sensor, 48MP ultrawide, and a 48MP 5x telephoto lens.

Both Pro models may gain macro capabilities through their ultrawide and telephoto lenses. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is also rumored to retain its camera hardware from the previous generation.

Display and Battery

Display sizes are largely expected to remain consistent with the Pixel 9 series: around 6.3 inches for the base Pixel 10 and 10 Pro, and approximately 6.7 inches for the Pixel 10 Pro XL. The Pro models are likely to feature 120Hz LTPO OLED panels with rumoured peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold’s cover display is also said to grow slightly to 6.4 inches with increased brightness.

Battery capacities are generally expected to see modest bumps across the lineup. The standard Pixel 10 might feature a 4,970mAh battery, while the Pixel 10 Pro could house a 4,870mAh cell. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is rumored to receive a significant boost to a 5,015mAh capacity, marking the largest non-silicon carbon battery for a foldable.

Charging speeds are also rumored to see slight increases, and there’s speculation about Qi2 magnetic charging support and a new “Pixelsnap” accessory ecosystem.

Expected pricing in India

The Pixel 10 is anticipated to start Rs 90,000, thus competing with the iPhone 16 and the upcoming iPhone 17. The higher-end Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL models could cross the Rs 110,000 mark, placing them firmly in the premium flagship segment.

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold, being a niche and highly advanced device, is likely to command an even higher price point, potentially exceeding Rs 1,50,000, aligning with other foldable offerings from Samsung and Vivo in India.
