As of Monday, a unified digital app for recording incoming and outgoing trucks and coaches at all customs offices at Greek land border checkpoints will be fully operational.
This application will eliminate the old handwritten procedures, logs, forms and records, paving the way for a modern, digital era of the customs services at the country’s borders.
The unified digital application offers significant advantages, such as faster inspections during vehicle entry and exit, reducing waiting times, more efficient use of personnel, allowing customs officers to focus on more critical tasks, more effective monitoring and detection of suspicious vehicles across the country and during their exit, enhanced transparency and integrity in customs inspections, and a unified digital environment for record-keeping and information provision.
It is noted that approximately 6.3 million vehicles (trucks, buses, and passenger cars) and 19.45 million passengers pass through the country’s border customs checkpoints each year, both upon entry and exit.
Real-time access to data by the auditing services of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) strengthens prevention, inspection and enforcement actions, in close cooperation with other border authorities.
