As a result, depending on model and capacity, used phone prices are down VND500,000-1.5 million (US$20-40), according to Dan Tri.
A 256GB iPhone 15 Pro Max is now VND20 million, down VND1 million from late May. The iPhone 15 Pro, 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max have fallen to VND17 million, VND12 million and VND16.5 million.
“In July the number of second-hand tech product purchases increased by 10% compared to the previous month,” Vien Di Dong, an iPhone retail chain, reported. “Used iPhone models such as the iPhone 14 Plus, 15 Plus and 15 Pro Max were the most popular.”
Older models like the iPhone 11, 12 Pro Max and 13 Pro Max have seen prices decline by VND300,000-500,000. These are prices for devices in 99% new condition. Imports from Japan or South Korea are priced VND500,000 lower, depending on the condition and overall quality.
Several used iPhone models are also available at prices VND500,000 higher than their U.S. counterparts, but are the most favored by customers. Their supply is limited and inconsistent.
“Although a global brand, iPhones from different markets feature slight variations. Which is why their prices differ to some extent,” Nguyen Van Giau of Di Dong My, said. “Customers should carefully research to find the most suitable version.”
Recently Apple discontinued several older models in the Vietnamese market, and the iPhone 11, 12 and 14 Plus have disappeared from stores and are now available only on the unofficial market.
“When the iPhone 11 and 12 were officially discontinued, the iPhone 13 became the most accessible option for a device in the mid to upper-mid range segment,” Minh Tuan Mobile said.
