The latest Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra software update is getting a wider release this week, following its debut in the Korean market a few days ago. Australia appears to be the starting point for this expansion, and it should be joined by more countries soon.
This update is an important one: it adds some One UI 7 functionality that is available on pre-2025 Galaxy devices that were updated from One UI 6 to One UI 7 but has been absent on devices launched running One UI 7 out of the box.
Specifically, after installing the update, when media is playing in an app, you will see its live notification pop up in the Now Bar on the top left corner of the screen and tap it to bring up the controls in a small pop-up.
You will also be able to control media playback from the notification shade. Out of the box, the Galaxy S25 series only showed the media playback widget in the quick settings panel.
The update also brings an improved charging animation, along with general improvements in device stability. It includes the April 2025 security patch as well.
You can identify the latest Galaxy S25 series update by a build number ending in AYD9. To download it, open the Settings app on your phone, navigate to the Software update menu, and select Download and install.
