NewsPepr — Data Rights Request Procedure

Purpose
This procedure explains how you can ask NewsPepr to exercise privacy or data-protection rights that may apply to you.
The rights available to you depend on your location, the applicable law, the type of information involved, and the reason NewsPepr processes it.
Depending on the applicable law, rights may include access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, withdrawal of consent, and rights concerning certain automated processing.

Who Can Submit a Request?
You may submit a request concerning your own personal information.
In some circumstances, an authorised representative may submit a request on your behalf. NewsPepr may request evidence of authority where necessary.
Requests concerning another person should not be submitted unless you are legally authorised to act for that person.

Types of Requests
Access / Know
You may ask what personal information NewsPepr holds or processes about you and, where applicable, request a copy or other information required by law.
Correction / Rectification
You may ask NewsPepr to correct inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
Deletion / Erasure
You may ask NewsPepr to delete personal information where the applicable law gives you that right.
Deletion rights are not absolute. Information may sometimes need to be retained because of legal obligations, security requirements, legal claims, public-interest considerations, or another lawful exception.
Restriction
Where applicable, you may ask NewsPepr to restrict the processing of your personal information.
Objection
Where applicable, you may object to certain processing of your personal information.
Some laws provide an absolute or enhanced right to object to direct marketing. Other objections may depend on the lawful basis and circumstances of the processing.
Data Portability
Where applicable, you may ask to receive certain personal information in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format or ask that it be transmitted to another organisation where legally required.
Portability rights generally apply only to particular categories of information and processing.
Withdraw Consent
Where NewsPepr relies on your consent, you may withdraw that consent where the law permits.
Withdrawal does not normally affect processing that was lawful before consent was withdrawn.
Advertising and Privacy Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to control certain advertising, sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or sensitive-information processing.

Identity Verification
To protect personal information, NewsPepr may need to verify that a request is genuine before providing, correcting, or deleting information.
The verification method will depend on the nature and sensitivity of the request.
We aim to request only information reasonably necessary for verification.
We will not ask for unnecessary sensitive information merely to exercise a privacy right.

Requests Through an Authorised Agent
Where applicable law permits an authorised agent to submit a request, NewsPepr may require evidence that the agent has authority to act for the individual.
Additional verification may be required to protect the individual's information.

How We Handle Requests
After receiving a request, NewsPepr may:

Response Times
Response periods depend on the applicable law.
For example, the EU and UK GDPR frameworks generally use a one-month period for many individual-rights requests, subject to lawful extensions and exceptions.
California covered businesses generally have specific confirmation and response periods for certain consumer requests, including a 45-day substantive response period for requests to know, delete, or correct, with a possible extension where permitted.
For India, response requirements may depend on the applicable provisions of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025, and their applicable commencement and enforcement provisions. NewsPepr will apply the requirements that are legally in force for the relevant request.
9.
If We Cannot Comply
A request may be refused or limited where permitted or required by applicable law.
Possible reasons include:
The requested right does not apply.
An exemption applies.
The request cannot be verified.
The information must be retained by law.
Disclosure would adversely affect another person's rights.
The request concerns information outside NewsPepr's control.
The request is manifestly unfounded or excessive where the applicable law recognises that limitation.
Another lawful basis or legal requirement prevents the requested action.
If we cannot comply, we will explain the reason where required and provide applicable complaint or appeal information.
10.
Editorial Content and Data Rights
A request concerning personal information is not necessarily the same as a request to remove an article.
NewsPepr may need to distinguish between:
Personal information held in operational records.
Personal information appearing in published editorial content.
Public-interest or historical information.
Information controlled by a third party.
Information subject to specific journalistic, freedom-of-expression, intellectual-property, or legal protections.
Where a request concerns published content, NewsPepr may also apply its Content Feedback & Removal Policy, Corrections Policy, and Editorial Policy.
Applicable law determines which rights and exemptions apply.

Complaints and Appeals
Where applicable law provides an internal appeal process, NewsPepr will provide information about how to use it.
You may also have the right to complain to a relevant data-protection authority or regulator.
For EU users, this may include the supervisory authority in the country where you live, work, or believe an infringement occurred.
For UK users, complaints may be made to the Information Commissioner's Office where appropriate.
For California consumers, applicable California privacy-law complaint and enforcement mechanisms may be available through the California Privacy Protection Agency or other appropriate authorities.
For India, applicable grievance and regulatory mechanisms may include the Data Protection Board of India and other authorities where the relevant law provides.
12.
Security and Confidentiality
Privacy requests may contain sensitive information.
NewsPepr will use reasonable measures to protect request information and restrict access to people who need it to process the request.
Do not send passwords, payment credentials, government identification documents, or other sensitive information unless specifically requested through a secure and appropriate process.
13.
No Fee Where the Law Prohibits Charging
NewsPepr will not charge a fee for exercising a privacy right where applicable law prohibits such charges.
Where a law permits a reasonable fee or permits refusal of a manifestly unfounded or excessive request, NewsPepr may apply the legally permitted approach.
