Google’s September 25, 2026, Google Workspace weekly recap summarizes product updates published during the previous week. The announcements span Google Sheets, Gemini, Google Meet, the Admin console, Slides, Calendar and other Workspace services.
New Google Sheets controls and integrations
- Manual calculation: Google Sheets is introducing a manual calculation setting that lets editors pause automatic recalculation, batch edits and trigger a sheet-wide update when they are ready to review results.
- Pivot table sorting: Sheets now supports custom sorting and manual row and column reordering in pivot tables, including drag-and-drop organization.
- Workday integration: Workday for Google Sheets is a new Google Workspace Marketplace add-on that connects Workday Adaptive Planning with Google Sheets and Slides. Google says its “Ask Workday” feature can reduce the need for manual CSV downloads.
Gemini and content creation updates
Study notebooks in Gemini are now available to users signed in with school or work-issued Google accounts when the Gemini app and Gemini Notebook are enabled by an administrator.
Google Docs can also use Gemini Notebook as a context source, allowing drafts to be grounded in a curated knowledge base without switching between tools.
In Google Vids, users now have access to Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash. Google says the model provides improved video extension quality and character and audio consistency. Vids also supports generating AI videos and upscaling AI videos to 1080p.
Google Meet and hardware changes
Google introduced Quick notes in “Take notes for me,” providing a single-page overview focused on meeting action items, outcomes and talking points. The feature is intended for users who need a high-level summary rather than every meeting detail.
New administrator and end-user settings for pre-configuring Meet’s “Take notes for me” feature are scheduled to take effect on September 29.
Occupancy counting is now available for Android-based Logitech Gen 2 room hardware, starting with Logitech Rally Board 65. Google says support for earlier Gen 1 devices is planned for next year as part of a future CollabOS update.
Additional Workspace updates
- Workspace administrators can import past emails from any IMAP-based email provider while setting up Google Workspace.
- Administrators can assign temporary roles to users, groups or service accounts for a defined period. Access granted by the role is automatically revoked when the expiration time is reached.
- Eligible customers can import PowerPoint files as client-side encrypted Slides in beta.
- Google Calendar on the web can display up to three time zones: primary, secondary and tertiary.
- Confluence for Google Chat is available as part of the Atlassian add-on, bringing project context and information from Confluence into Chat conversations.
What Workspace users should know
The recap includes a mix of generally available features, newly introduced capabilities, administrator-controlled functionality and beta availability. In particular, Gemini study notebooks require administrator enablement for school or work accounts, PowerPoint conversion to client-side encrypted Slides is in beta for eligible customers, and support for earlier Logitech Gen 1 devices is described as a future update.
